A case has come to light in Lucknow where a woman, posing as the fake wife of a deceased person, sold property worth crores of rupees for only ₹55 lakh. According to a report by Sandesh (Desh), following a court order, the police have registered a case of fraud and forgery of documents against four people, including a woman.
Devendranath Mishra alias Azad, the husband of Seema Bajpai residing in Ajay Nagar on Kamta Church Road, Chinhat, passed away on April 26, 2021. According to Seema Bajpai, when she reached her husband's house located in Indralok Colony, she discovered that Rekha Devi from Sultanpur had started living there. It is alleged that Rekha Devi, despite being the wife of another person, posed as the fake wife of Devendranath Mishra.
According to the complaint, Rekha Devi hatched this conspiracy along with Swapnil Shukla, Sunil Kumar Shukla, and Satish Kumar. It is alleged that with the help of Swapnil Shukla, and despite obtaining a stay from the court, a fake document was prepared on January 18, 2023, and the property worth crores was sold for just ₹55 lakh.
Seema Bajpai had complained to officials several times regarding this matter. She sent applications via registered post to the officials of Wazirganj Police Station on October 18, 2025, and to the Police Commissioner on November 17, 2025. Finally, following the court's order, the Wazirganj police have initiated legal action against Rekha Devi, Swapnil Shukla, Sunil Kumar Shukla, and Satish Kumar.
It is noteworthy that there was a family dispute between Seema Bajpai and her husband, in which the Family Court had passed an order in a maintenance case on July 26, 2022.
