Paddy-laden truck plunges into gorge after breaking railing at Hirola Rangi Ghati

An incident has occurred in Hirola Rangi Ghati of Sanjeli taluka, where a truck loaded with paddy broke the railing and plunged into a gorge approximately 100 feet deep. According to a report by Sandesh, this truck, bearing Maharashtra registration number MH18BA0320, was transporting paddy from Sanjeli towards Ujjain.

While ascending the ghat, a sudden technical fault occurred in the truck, causing the vehicle to slide backwards. During this, the driver lost control of the steering, and the truck crashed through the railing with a loud bang and fell below. The accident was so severe that the truck was completely mangled, and the paddy bags were scattered across the gorge. Hearing the explosion, people working in nearby fields rushed to the spot. The truck driver and cleaner survived as they managed to jump out of the vehicle in time.

Due to the steep ascent and winding curves at Hirola Rangi Ghati, this route is hazardous for heavy vehicles. Despite numerous accidents having occurred here previously, the administration has not taken steps such as strengthening the railings, installing speed breakers, or placing warning boards. Vehicle drivers are demanding that the double-lane road be converted into a four-lane highway and the ascent be eased and the road widened to prevent accidents.
