As the Diwali festival approaches, airfares for traveling from Ahmedabad to domestic and international tourist destinations have increased heavily. According to a Sandesh report, passengers are now getting more attracted towards various domestic tourist destinations instead of foreign travel. This year, due to the war situation in the Arab countries of West Asia and Iran, a significant decline in the number of tourists has been observed there.
Comparing the fare data, it appears that there is a big difference between the fares of 29 October and 28 November. The minimum fare to go from Ahmedabad to Srinagar has increased from ₹15,593 to ₹24,538, showing a massive jump of 173.4 percent. Similarly, the minimum fare for Amritsar increased from ₹8,019 to ₹16,642, up by 107.5 percent, and the fare for Dehradun increased from ₹7,612 to ₹16,195, up by 112.8 percent.
A big increase has been seen in domestic routes as well. An increase of 25.2 percent in the minimum fare for Mumbai and 93.3 percent for Delhi has been recorded. However, a decrease in the maximum fares of some destinations including Goa, Dehradun and Delhi has also been observed. According to Sandesh, the actual fare may vary based on the airline, seat availability and the time of booking.
Fares on international routes have also increased. The minimum fare for Bali has increased by ₹10,196, which is 46.6 percent, while the minimum fare for Singapore has increased from ₹15,498 to ₹21,225. Travel operators state that due to the increase in hotel and flight fares, Gujarati tourists are now preferring to travel during the off-peak period, due to which demand in the Diwali vacation has decreased by 30 percent compared to last year.
The difference in fares with the timing of booking is also significant. According to a report by The Times of India, on the morning of 16 September 2026, a big difference in fares was seen across 54 domestic routes based on the time of booking. If a passenger books to go from Ahmedabad to Pune one day prior to departure, they have to pay 120.5 percent more fare than booking 30 days in advance. In comparison, this relief on the route from Bengaluru to Chennai was only 2.9 percent.
