Panic among industrialists and locals as leopard spotted in Bholav GIDC

Heavy concern has spread among local residents and industrialists due to the reappearance of a leopard in the Bholav GIDC area of Bharuch. According to a report by Sandesh, a leopard was spotted in the premises of Mahavir Company, a manufacturing unit located in Bholav GIDC. As soon as this incident came to light, an atmosphere of fear was created among the workers operating in the surrounding factories.

Previously, CCTV footage showing a leopard crossing the road in this area had gone viral. At that time, the Forest Department team had conducted an investigation in the area and made attempts to capture the leopard. The Forest Department had carried out searches based on leopard paw prints found in various factories, but the leopard was not found. The Forest Department had instructed people not to walk alone on deserted roads and to remain cautious.

Thousands of people commute through the GIDC area every day, but at certain times during the day and night, the roads are deserted. During such times, fears are being expressed that a leopard could attack individuals walking alone. In particular, the possibility of small children and adults in the society areas becoming prey cannot be ruled out.

The report stated that as wildlife habitats decrease and the number of animals in the food chain declines, leopards are moving towards human populations in search of food. Stray dogs and cows in urban areas can become easy prey for them. For some time now, incidents of leopard attacks on humans have been reported from various locations.
