Awareness programme on breast and cervical cancer held in Abdasan

An awareness programme on breast cancer and cervical cancer was organised by the core team and auxiliary committee of the Betalis Gol Anjana Patidar Samaj Trust, Idar, at the Seva Mandali of Abdasan village in Idar taluka.

According to a report by Sandesh, Dr. Amit from Medicare Hospital, Idar, provided guidance to the attending women regarding cancer symptoms, timely screening, and its treatment. He stated that women with a family history of cancer should undergo regular check-ups. If breast cancer is detected early, timely treatment becomes possible, and mammography screening facilities are available in Himatnagar.

Approximately 530 women from all castes have been screened by the community so far. The community provides transport facilities to and from Himatnagar Civil Hospital and meal arrangements for the women at a nominal token amount.

Leaders including Dalji Patel, Raman Patel, and Arvind Patel were present at the programme. It was noted that awareness regarding cancer among women is found to be lower in rural areas compared to cities. Due to the responsibilities of farming and animal husbandry, women often avoid health check-ups, which increases the possibility of delayed diagnosis of the disease.
