Banaskantha police bust Saurashtra gang of habitual electrical reactor thieves

According to a Sandesh report, the Banaskantha Local Crime Branch has exposed a clever reactor-thieving gang from Saurashtra. This gang had cut the fencing wire from the same spot twice and stolen electricity reactors at the 66 kV GEB sub-station located in Ramun village of Banaskantha district.

Reactors were stolen in the 66 kV GEB sub-station area of Ramun village in Deesa taluka during July 2026. Subsequently, during the night of 27/10/2026 to 28/10/2026, fencing wire was cut again and three reactors worth ₹ 1.40 lakh were stolen. Due to repeated theft incidents at the same location, GEB Junior Engineer Dineshbbhai Rajgor had filed a police complaint.

To crack this crime, under the instructions of Banaskantha Range IGP Parikshita Rathod and District Superintendent of Police Prashant Sumbe, and the guidance of LCB PI D. M. Rathod, separate teams of PSI R. B. Jadeja and J. S. Gadhvi were formed. The police team intensively inspected footage from over 200 CCTV cameras in the area from Ramun to Radhanpur and Tharad to Ramun, in which a white-coloured Indigo car came to light.

The police team nabbed the gang's main mastermind Kaushik Sagathiya and Akash Vikani near Bhoyan village on the highway road near Deesa. Muddamal worth a total of ₹ 3.15 lakh including a car, two reactors and mobile phones has been seized from them. With this arrest, more than five theft cases have been solved by the police.
