A case has come to light in Ahmedabad where pressure was exerted on an official of the Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA) by an individual using the false identity of Ellisbridge MLA Amit Shah. An unknown person, claiming to be the MLA, called the official to expedite the approval of a healthcare company's license and criticised them for the delay in clearance.
According to a report by DeshGujarat, on October 29, S.N. Gadhvi, Assistant Commissioner of FDCA posted in Gandhinagar, called MLA Amit Shah to ask whether he or Drugs Inspector Parth Patel had contacted them regarding the license for 'Pulse Healthcare' company. The 67-year-old Amit Shah denied this.
Gadhvi stated that a person calling from number 9909283312 identified himself as the MLA of Ellisbridge and expressed anger at the official over the delay in approving the license. When Gadhvi suggested speaking with the Health Minister regarding the matter, the person expressed willingness to speak with the Minister.
Subsequently, the official sent a video of this conversation to Amit Shah, in which the person was seen using his false identity. The MLA lodged a complaint on November 4, stating that his public office had been misused through this act and an attempt was made to damage his reputation. In this matter, Vasna Police have registered an FIR against the unknown accused under sections 204 and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
