An incident has come to light where a factory owner residing in the Vatva area of Ahmedabad was cheated of ₹1.10 crore by a Maninagar builder and his son. According to the DeshGujarat report, the complainant Rikesh Mistry had decided in the year 2024 to purchase shop number 10 in Taxila Crest, located opposite Pushpukunj Society in Maninagar. Between January 2025 and August 2025, he deposited a total of ₹1.10 crore into builder Kamlesh Gondaliya's Bank of India account through cheques and RTGS. On 31 May 2026, this shop was also registered in the name of Rikesh Mistry.
However, on 9 August 2026, when Rikesh Mistry reached the shop, he found the shop sealed and a notice from Aditya Birla Capital Finance pasted there. Upon inquiring about this, the builder's brother stated that the process of paying off the loan was underway. Later, the builder sent an NOC on WhatsApp, which had his father's name instead of the buyer's and contained contradictory information regarding the remaining amount and zero balance. Investigation revealed that the builder had mortgaged the shop to obtain a project loan and had used the buyer's money for personal work. In this matter, the Maninagar police have registered a case of cheating and breach of trust against Kamlesh Gondaliya and his son and initiated further investigation.
