The Thiruvananthapuram city police have arrested three individuals in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Abhiram and taken a fourth person into custody for questioning. According to reports released at 10:41 pm on 3 November, 2026, several shocking facts have emerged during the police investigation into this serious incident. Police investigation has revealed that the murder of Sreekaryam resident Abhiram was part of a pre-planned conspiracy. District Police Chief Arul R.B. Krishna had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate this case. The police have achieved this breakthrough on the basis of digital communication, CCTV footage and technical evidence.
During the interrogation of the accused, it was revealed that their real target was Abhiram's friend, who had a friendship with a girl. When Abhiram refused to bring his friend to Pangappara, an altercation broke out with the accused and this dispute resulted in murder. Abhiram was beaten ruthlessly, due to which severe injury marks were seen on his face and body. The accused have confessed that one of them strangled Abhiram to death, although official confirmation of this will come after the post-mortem and forensic reports. After making sure that Abhiram was dead, the accused hid the body and fled from the scene. Based on the information provided by the minor accused during interrogation, the police recovered the body from Pangappara. In this case, the police have registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and taken the investigation further.
The arrested accused include the 17-year-old main accused, who was presented before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to an observation home till 10 November. Other accused include 21-year-old Umar Mukhtar S. from Kallampally and 18-year-old Ananda from Manacaud. Umar Mukhtar is a history-sheeter of Sreekaryam police station, who was released from preventive detention under KAAPA on 1 September. In addition, Aishwarya, a resident of Akkulam, has also been taken into custody for questioning regarding her role in the conspiracy. On the other hand, family members including Abhiram's father Madhu Kumar have accused the police of negligence. They allege that the police failed to trace the teenager in the initial hours and the main accused had been released early earlier.
Meanwhile, a serious incident of murder has also taken place in Vadodara, Gujarat. Yuvrajsinh Dodiya was murdered near a tea stall located in the Gotri area. Following an argument over a trivial issue, the accused attacked with a dagger and murdered Yuvrajsinh. After the incident, the main accused fled from the spot. The Vadodara Zone-2 LCB (Local Crime Branch) team took prompt action based on technical surveillance and secret information. The police arrested the main accused Jeya alias Tinkoo within a few hours. Currently, intensive interrogation of Tinkoo is being conducted at the Gotri police station, in which information is being obtained about the exact motive of the murder, the weapon and other possible helpers. The police of both states are taking strict action in these cases.
