According to a Hindustan Times report, two deer were allegedly killed by suspected poachers in the Barmer district of Rajasthan. This incident has sparked anger among local villagers, and they have launched a protest demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible.
The incident took place on Friday night near Neharon ki Nadi and Bisarniya villages under the Dhaurana police station area. According to the villagers, the suspected poachers killed two deer and tied the legs of one of the carcasses, hanging it upside down from a tree.
The villagers also claimed that the poachers were using an iron vessel filled with stones to produce sound in order to attract the deer. Due to this sound, animals tied in an enclosure owned by Kalaram Choudhary became restless, which alerted the villagers and created an uproar. Hearing the noise, the suspected poachers took advantage of the darkness and fled from the spot. Furthermore, the suspects were chasing a third deer.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a team of the forest department, personnel of Dhaurana police, and Chohtan Circle Officer Jetharam reached the spot and started an investigation into the entire matter. The officials also attempted to pacify the protesting villagers.
Local villagers alleged that similar incidents had occurred in the past as well, but no effective action was taken against the poachers involved.
