ASI suspended on allegations of framing Baba Kashmir Giri in drug case

The police administration has taken major action following serious allegations that Shiv Sena Hind president Baba Kashmir Giri was falsely implicated in a drug case in Khanna, Ludhiana district, Punjab. In this matter, Khanna Police have suspended ASI Sukhdev Singh with immediate effect. Regarding this incident, the police administration has sent a stern message that no tampering with the law will be permitted under the guise of the ongoing campaign against drugs, whether it be a common citizen or an officer or employee of the police department.

According to a report by Amar Ujala, the entire matter came into discussion when a video surfaced on social media. Following the emergence of this video, the police took immediate notice of the matter. Action SP Harpinder Kaur Gill provided detailed information regarding the sequence of events during a conversation with journalists. She stated that when the police team went to conduct raids based on confidential information, the actions taken by ASI Sukhdev Singh at the scene did not appear to be in accordance with the rules of law.

Taking this serious matter into account, ASI Sukhdev Singh has been suspended as per the orders of Khanna SSP Davrpan Ahluwalia. Answering questions on whether action has been taken against only one officer in this matter, SP Harpinder Kaur Gill stated that the SSP of Khanna has formed an SIT (Special Investigation Team) under the leadership of SP Harpinder Kaur Gill to conduct an impartial investigation into this entire episode.

The newly formed SIT is conducting a thorough investigation into every aspect of this case. The main objective of the investigation is to ascertain which other police personnel or officers were involved in this entire conspiracy. It has been stated that more stringent legal action will be taken against the culprits once the investigation report is presented.

In the context of the 'War Against Drugs' campaign being run by the Punjab government, the police administration has clarified that no negligence or irregularity will be tolerated in this campaign. The department has made it clear that if any person is found to be involved in wrongful activities, the strictest possible steps will be taken against them. It has been resolved to expose all guilty parties by conducting a transparent investigation in this matter.

This action taken in the case of Baba Kashmir Giri has caused a stir within the police department. The SIT investigation is now proceeding in the direction of whether this was merely an error by a single officer or if a larger conspiracy was involved. As per the implicit message given by the police administration, compliance with the law is mandatory, and no concessions will be given to those who misuse the law in the fight against drugs.
