Manipur has launched the first Artificial Intelligence (AI) equipped Career Intelligence Hub among the states of North-East India. The primary objective of this facility is to assist students in shaping their careers.
On Saturday, 7 November, 2026, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh inaugurated this AI-equipped Career Intelligence Hub at the Tamphasana Girls Higher Secondary School located in the state capital, Imphal. This initiative has been established under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme. This project is the first facility of its kind in the North-East region.
According to a report by The Hindu, this initiative is a significant step towards integrating Artificial Intelligence into the state's education and career guidance ecosystem. The Chief Minister stated that the government's effort is to provide students with technology-based career guidance, personalised counselling, and information regarding emerging career opportunities.
Speaking on career challenges, the Chief Minister said that Artificial Intelligence has made great progress and is continuously bringing changes to various sectors and professions. Therefore, it is necessary for students to upgrade themselves to face future challenges.
The Chief Minister praised those students who focused on their education and future instead of participating in the protests that have been ongoing over the last few months. He advised other students that dialogue is the best medium for resolving any disagreements or serious issues.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also praised Imphal West and Pherzawl districts. Under the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) 'Mobilisation for AIDS Suraksha' initiative, both these districts achieved 'safe' status in October. This achievement means that 95% of the estimated people suffering from HIV in the district are aware of their status, 95% of these aware individuals are receiving Antiretroviral Therapy (ART), and 95% of those taking ART have achieved viral suppression.
Manipur is among the states in India most affected by HIV/AIDS. The primary reason for this is the geographical proximity to the Golden Triangle (the drug trafficking route comprising Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand). According to NACO records, the prevalence of HIV among adults in the state is approximately 1.05% to 1.18%, which is significantly higher than India's national average of approximately 0.2%.
