Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Wednesday inaugurated three new police stations at Motera, Vastral, and Hanspura in Ahmedabad. With the addition of these new police stations, the total number of police stations in Ahmedabad has increased from 49 to 52. According to a report by DeshGujarat, while addressing citizens and police personnel, Sanghavi stated that due to these new police stations, residents will not have to travel long distances to lodge complaints or for other official work, thereby saving their time and energy.
The Motera police station will strengthen security around venues of major events, including the Narendra Modi Stadium, and will assist in maintaining law and order during large gatherings. Sanghavi praised the Ahmedabad Crime Branch for breaking interstate drug networks and seizing MD drugs and heroin worth crores of rupees. Additionally, he commended the police personnel working overnight to ensure the security of millions of devotees during Navratri and the protection of industrial and commercial units.
Before Diwali, Sanghavi requested police personnel to adopt a helpful approach towards street vendors, stall owners, and small traders so that they can conduct their business peacefully until late at night. He also appealed to citizens to support small traders during the festive season and to avoid excessive bargaining. Sanghavi further added that criminals and anti-social elements should fear the law, but when a common or poor citizen visits a police station, they should be treated with respect and provided timely justice with sensitivity. He also told the police personnel to celebrate Diwali with their families after completing their duties.
Harsh Sanghavi is the Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat. Representing the Bharatiya Janata Party, he has served as a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly three times from the Majura assembly constituency. He has also been serving as a Minister of State with independent charge of various ministries since September 2021.
