Administrative negligence has come to light on the main road near Shambhunagar in Chikda taluka of Narmada district. A large section of the road near the culvert on the main road going from Shambhunagar towards Kakarpada was washed out due to heavy rains during the monsoon. This road is situated near the culvert close to the cremation ground of Shambhunagar village.
According to a Sandesh report, even though months have passed since this incident, the concerned department has not yet bothered to repair this dangerous road. Countless small and large vehicles ply day and night on this route, due to which immense anger is visible among locals and motorists.
Since the road near the culvert is in an extremely dilapidated and washed-out condition, motorists have to pass through this section at the risk of their lives. During the daytime, motorists somehow manage to pass safely, but in the darkness of night, this washed-out section is not clearly visible. Due to this, there is every possibility of a major casualty or serious accident occurring here at any time.
Even though a long time has passed since the monsoon ended, no barriers or barricades have been installed at this spot by the responsible department. Not only that, no warning board has been put up here either. Local people have demanded that the road be permanently repaired so that any major casualty can be prevented in the future.
