According to a report by Sandesh, 17 boxes of Kesar mangoes have once again arrived at the Porbandar market yard, leaving traders and customers greatly astonished. Saurashtra's well-known Kesar mango is normally available to eat during the summer season, that is, in the months of April and May, but these mangoes have arrived in the market in the middle of October itself.
Even earlier than this, during an auction held in the Porbandar marketing yard in the month of October, the bidding for a 10-kilogram box of Kesar mangoes had reached up to ₹14,500 and a total of 4 boxes were sold at a massive price of about ₹53,500.
Traders stated regarding this that these unexpected Kesar mangoes have come to the market from the orchards of Ranavav and Adiyana villages in the Barda hills area near Porbandar. Due to the excellent quality of these mangoes, high prices were quoted in the marketing yard, in which, based on quality, a single box of Kesar mangoes was sold at a record price of rupees 10,500.
All these 17 boxes were sold for a total of rupees 63,000. This amount is much higher even than the financial assistance of rupees 8,500 per hectare given by the government to farmers for horticulture or farming.
