TVS Motor has unveiled its new electric maxi scooter, the M1-S, at EICMA 2026. This scooter has been specifically developed with a premium look, powerful performance, and modern technology to compete with petrol-powered maxi scooters. The highlights of this model are its large battery, potent motor, and maxi scooter design.
According to reports, the concept model of this scooter was exhibited in Milan last year, while the production-spec model has now been presented. The TVS M1-S was developed in Singapore and is currently preparing to enter the European market. The design of the scooter is kept similar to large maxi scooters, and its battery is positioned below the floorboard, which keeps the scooter's centre of gravity low and maintains balance.
Regarding technical details, this electric scooter is based on Ion Mobility's M1-S platform. Looking at its dimensions, it has a length of 1,970 millimetres, a width of 730 millimetres, and a wheelbase of 1,350 millimetres. The total weight of this scooter is 150 kilograms. Additionally, the ground clearance is 170 millimetres and the seat height is 800 millimetres. 14-inch wheels have been provided in both the front and rear parts of the scooter.
On the performance front, the TVS M1-S is equipped with a 4.2 kWh NMC lithium-ion battery. It features a chassis-mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), which generates 16.8 hp of power. The company claims that this electric scooter can travel up to 120 kilometres on a single charge. In terms of speed, this scooter can accelerate from 0 to 50 km per hour in just 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 105 km per hour. For ease during long journeys, a cruise control facility has also been provided. However, all these specifications are for the European market and may change if it is brought to the Indian market.
Speaking of tyres and the braking system, a 110/70 section tyre is provided in the front and a 120/70-14 section tyre in the rear. For suspension, telescopic forks are provided in the front and two adjustable suspension units in the rear. For safety, 230 millimetre disc brakes are present in both wheels, which are linked with a dual-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
For charging, a 1.8 kW system has been provided in this scooter. According to the company, it takes 75 minutes to charge the battery from 10 per cent to 80 per cent. An onboard charger is also provided, allowing the battery to be charged via a standard home socket.
Regarding storage facilities, a space of 26 litres is provided under the seat, which can accommodate a full-face helmet. Additionally, there are two separate storage areas in the front, one of which has a USB-A charging port, while the other can hold a half-litre water bottle or small items.
Among the smart features, a 7-inch TFT screen is provided, which supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and inbuilt LTE connectivity. This scooter is equipped with Android Auto and iOS apps. It also features a remote key function, through which the rider can open the seat from a distance. Furthermore, 'Find My Bike' and service-related information can be accessed via the app.
