Under the Gujarat Government's public-utility and welfare campaign titled 'Tera Tujhko Arpan', looted property has been returned by the Banaskantha district police. Under this programme, silver jewellery worth ₹27.44 lakh was handed over to its original owner by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi.
According to a Sandesh report, employees working at Maximum and Enterprise wholesale silver shop in Ahmedabad were returning from Ahmedabad to Dhanera with jewellery. During this time, unknown persons stopped their vehicle on the highway near Tetoda village in Deesa. The accused injured the employees and looted a total of 12.160 kg of silver jewellery from the vehicle, valued at approximately ₹27.44 lakh.
Following the incident, a crime was registered by the victim at the Deesa Rural police station. Given the seriousness of the crime, the Banaskantha LCB team solved the case within a few hours using technical and human intelligence. The police arrested a total of 4 accused, including the seizure of the Altroz car used in the crime, and recovered all the looted property.
Police Inspector D.M. Rathod, Head Constable Rajeshkumar Shankarlal, Police Constable Kansingh Balvantsingh, and Police Constable Mukeshkumar Shantilal were lauded for quickly solving this complex crime. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi specially honoured all these police personnel by presenting them with certificates of appreciation.
It is noteworthy that under this campaign of the Gujarat Government, a total of 538 programmes have been organised by the Banaskantha district police in the last one year. Through all these programmes, lost or looted valuable property worth more than ₹4.66 crore has been found and returned to its rightful owners in the district, which has increased public trust in the police.
