Strict action has been taken against Bangladeshi nationals who obtained Indian passports using forged documents in Madhya Pradesh. According to a report by Sandesh (Desh), based on the STF investigation report, the Passport Department has cancelled 31 out of a total 70 passports. Among these cancelled passports, 17 were obtained using addresses from Simariya village in the Dabra area of Gwalior district. The process of cancelling the remaining passports is currently underway.
The STF investigation revealed that the accused changed their identities and names to claim Indian citizenship and obtained passports by creating forged documents. This network used the addresses of Buddhist monasteries to obtain passports for Bangladeshi nationals. According to investigative agencies, 66 accused in this case are still absconding, and most of them have fled the country. Interrogations have revealed that the absconding accused are hiding in countries such as China, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
The mastermind of this scam, Riyal Chaudhary alias Mithyanand Bhikshu, and his three Bangladeshi associates have already been arrested. Additionally, agents of the Bhopal Passport Seva Kendra, Nasim Akhtar, Gaya Prasad Gautam, and Gulabray Gautam, who provided assistance at the local level, have also been arrested.
The STF is now investigating potential links between the fake passport racket in Nagpur, Maharashtra, and the Gwalior-Dabra case. Information regarding the accused and their modus operandi has been sought from the Nagpur Police. The cancelled passports will enable the identification of individuals through the immigration system.
