Two accused individuals have been arrested for defrauding a cloth merchant of ₹5,50,077 in the Saroli Police Station area of Surat. According to a report by Sandesh, the police have apprehended persons named Rahamtulla Mohammad Nasir Sheikh and Vickibhai Rajkumar Rohra. The police team carried out this operation using informants and technical surveillance.
Investigation revealed that the accused had adopted a specific method for the fraud. They used to contact cloth merchants through brokers. Initially, to win the merchant's trust, they conducted small transactions and made payments on time. Once the merchant had full confidence in them, the accused ordered cloth goods worth lakhs of rupees on credit in large quantities.
After receiving the goods, the accused made no payment even after the agreed deadline had passed and they disappeared. The merchant officially registered a crime at the Saroli Police Station regarding this financial fraud, based on which the police investigated and arrested both accused.
Currently, the police have obtained the remand of the accused. The police are now investigating whether these two individuals have defrauded other merchants in Surat in a similar manner and whether any other persons are involved in this entire scam.
