The All India Tennis Association (AITA) will organise 21 international junior tennis tournaments across 16 states and two union territories in the year 2027. The primary objective of this initiative is to provide international exposure to Indian players within their own country and offer more opportunities to earn world ranking points.
According to a report by Sportstar, the tournament calendar will commence on January 4 and conclude on November 29. The entire schedule includes competitions of various grades, with a total of six tournaments of J100 grade and above. This includes one J300 event in New Delhi, J200 tournaments in Chandigarh and Kolkata, and one JB1 event in Pune.
Additionally, the programme will feature three J100, five J60, and nine J30 tournaments. Notably, new J30 events have been introduced in Amritsar and Thiruvananthapuram. Through these 21 tournaments, a total of 1,870 ranking points will be awarded to the singles winners across various grades.
AITA Secretary General Sundar Iyer stated, "One of the main objectives of the expanded calendar is to provide Indian junior players with greater convenience to participate in international competitions without being entirely dependent on foreign tours."
These competitions will be held in various cities across the country, including Guwahati, Indore, Dehradun, Raipur, Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, Chennai, Madurai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur. This expanded calendar is part of AITA's 'ACE 2032' vision. The aim of this vision is to create a systematic pathway for Indian players through more competitions, improved coaching standards, and international exposure. These tournaments will provide a better opportunity for talents such as Jency Deepakbhai Kanabar to climb up the rankings.
