Tradition of offering Bhaat Pind on Kali Chaudash at Mandvyeshwar Mahadev Temple

At the renowned Mandvyeshwar Mahadev Temple located in Ankleshwar, Bharuch district, a unique religious ritual was organised on the auspicious day of Kali Chaudash to seek peace and salvation for ancestors. According to a report by Sandesh, special Bhaat Pind were offered to Lord Bholenath on this occasion.

In Hindu religion, the festivals of Kali Chaudash and Diwali hold special significance, during which prayers are offered to ward off inauspiciousness and for the satisfaction of ancestors. Apart from the world-famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, the Mandvyeshwar Mahadev Temple in Ankleshwar, Gujarat, is the only place in the entire country where this specific ritual for the peace of ancestors is performed on the night or day of Kali Chaudash. A large number of devotees gathered to witness this tradition.

Under this religious ritual, Bhaat Pind are offered to Lord Shiva along with Annakut and other offerings. It is a religious belief that offering Bhaat Pind in this manner on the day of Kali Chaudash provides liberation from Pitru Dosha and fulfills the wish for the peace and salvation of the deceased ancestors of the family.
