The Zone-6 LCB team has achieved a major success in the crackdown against the illegal trafficking of foreign liquor in Ahmedabad. According to a report by TV9 Gujarati, police set up a watch near Zagdariya Bridge in the Maninagar area based on a tip-off. During this operation, while attempting to stop a suspicious car, the bootleggers abandoned the vehicle on the road and tried to flee on foot to escape the police. However, the LCB team pursued them in a cinematic style and caught two accused, named Sahil and Dhruv Parmar, red-handed.
According to a report by Sandesh, the scenes of the accused fleeing were captured in nearby CCTV cameras, which have now become a topic of discussion on social media and within police circles. During the raid, police searched the car and recovered Indian-made foreign liquor worth more than ₹17.31 lakh. The police have seized all the evidence, including the liquor and the car used.
Police investigations have revealed that these accused were smuggling large quantities of foreign liquor into the city from the Rajasthan border. At the time of the raid, some other individuals managed to flee, leaving behind the vehicle and the goods under the cover of darkness. During the interrogation of the arrested accused, the names of five other bootleggers have emerged. The police have declared a total of 5 persons wanted, including the main supplier providing the liquor in this network and 4 other bootleggers who ordered the goods locally.
Police have registered a case under the Prohibition Act and have initiated further investigation to apprehend the absconding accused.
