Extensive preparations have been made by the administration to ensure that the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) elections, scheduled for November 5 in Eluru district, are conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner.
According to a report by The Hindu, District Collector K. Vetri Selvi provided information regarding this on Wednesday. She visited the distribution centre established at the Ungutur Mandal Parishad Development Office. There, she monitored the process of distributing polling equipment and interacted with election staff to ascertain their preparedness.
The Collector stated that voting will take place for a total of 27 ZPTC and 454 MPTC seats in the district. A total of 12,96,515 voters are eligible to cast their votes in this election process. 1,555 polling stations have been set up across the district, and a total of 2,444 ballot boxes will be used for voting. The counting of votes will be carried out on November 7 after the completion of polling.
To prevent any unforeseen incidents during the election, the Collector stated that additional security arrangements have been made at sensitive and highly sensitive polling stations. One presiding officer and one to three other polling staff, depending on the number of voters, will be deployed at each polling station. All these employees have been trained twice regarding the election process.
Polling equipment and staff will be transported to their respective polling stations via designated vehicles, with a route officer accompanying each bus. The polling process will take place on Thursday from 7 am to 5 pm. The Collector has instructed all staff that all polling stations must be fully ready by 6 am.
