The Gujarat Government has approved a total amount of ₹7.14 crore to provide relief to over 850 sugarcane farmers associated with the Shri Ukai Pradesh Khand Udyog Sahkari Mandli Limited (Vyara Sugar) towards their outstanding dues. This amount will be credited directly to the farmers' bank accounts before the Diwali festival.
According to a report by DeshGujarat, Government spokesperson and Minister Jitubhai Vaghani stated that farmers in tribal areas were facing difficulties due to non-receipt of outstanding payments for sugarcane production, and to resolve this, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved this financial assistance. Vyara Sugar had expressed inability to make timely payments for the sugarcane supplied by the farmers, which had put the farmers in a financial crisis.
As per a report by TV9 Gujarati, difficulties for the farmers had increased due to farming expenses and family needs, along with losses caused by unseasonal rain. This decision has been taken under the guidance of the Chief Minister, keeping in view the representations and financial condition of the farmers.
Minister Jitubhai Vaghani further stated that this issue was resolved after special efforts by Tribal Development Minister Naresh Patel, Minister of State Jayram Gamit, and former Minister Ganpat Vasava. This step will provide direct financial benefit to over 850 farmer families, enabling them to celebrate the festivals with enthusiasm.
Bhupendrabhai Rajnikant Patel has been serving as the 17th Chief Minister of Gujarat since September 2021. He has represented the Ghatlodia constituency in the Legislative Assembly since 2017 and is a member of the BJP. He began his political career by working in the municipalities of Ahmedabad.
