These 9 members from two different teams engaged in rescue operations fell victim to the accident on the evening of Wednesday, 4 November, 2026.
According to a report by The Hindu, these rescue teams were engaged in an operation to safely evacuate 5 fishermen stranded in the floodwaters. As these teams of SDRF and Fire Services personnel moved forward to rescue the fishermen in the overflowing river, their two boats capsized due to strong winds and a heavy water current. However, it has been reported that the 5 fishermen stranded in the floodwaters are safe.
Khammam Collector Divakar T.S., along with other officials, reached the site and was supervising the rescue operations. Preparations were made to call in NDRF teams to accelerate rescue efforts and to drop life jackets via drones. According to the latest information received on the night of Wednesday, 4 November, search and rescue operations were ongoing continuously.
