According to reports by Amar Ujala, Dainik Bhaskar, and The Times of India, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) i.e. NCP (SP) chief and senior politician Sharad Pawar was admitted to a private hospital in Pune on Monday. The 85-year-old Sharad Pawar is also a cancer survivor. After coughing, he complained of increased chest pain while breathing or while coughing and sneezing, due to which he was brought to Pune's Ruby Hall Clinic.
Providing information on this matter, Sharad Pawar's daughter, Baramati MP and NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule stated that her father's medical tests are underway. According to Sule, all parameters related to Sharad Pawar's health are stable. A general health check-up has been conducted by the doctors and he is currently under the strict observation of doctors.
Dr. Purvez K. Grant, Chief Cardiologist, Chairman and Managing Trustee of Ruby Hall Clinic, stated that there is full hope for Sharad Pawar's condition to normalize soon. He clarified that as a precautionary measure, Sharad Pawar will be kept under observation in the hospital itself and he will remain in the hospital for now. According to doctors, if oxygen and heart rate are normal, this is not an emergency, but the condition improves in 3 to 5 days with antibiotics, pain medication, and proper rest.
According to reports, this problem experienced by Sharad Pawar is called 'pleuritic pain' or 'pleurisy'. This is a pain occurring in the chest which generally increases while breathing, coughing, or sneezing. This pain occurs in the outer membrane of the lungs. There are two thin membranes around our lungs which are called pleura. Between these two membranes, there is a little lubricating fluid, due to which the lungs can easily expand and contract while breathing.
When swelling or infection occurs in these membranes or fluid accumulates, both membranes rub against each other while breathing, coughing, or sneezing. Due to this very friction, sharp and stabbing pain occurs in the chest. Under doctors' advice and supervision, Sharad Pawar's treatment is currently underway at a Pune hospital and his condition is being continuously monitored.
