A female cheetah cub named 'Nirva', who escaped from Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park, has once again entered the forests of Karauli district in Rajasthan. This is not the first time the cheetah has reached Rajasthan; it is the third time she has marked her presence in the forests of the Mandrayal area of Karauli. According to reports, the cheetah was seen active in the forests of Darura on Thursday as well.
Following the cheetah's movements, forest department teams from both Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have become highly alert and are continuously monitoring her activities. Deputy Conservator of Forests Sanjeev Sharma stated that a special team of forest personnel is tracking the cheetah. Additionally, a team from Kuno National Park has been deployed to the Mandrayal area, which is keeping a constant eye on the cheetah's location and movement.
Providing detailed information on the cheetah's activities, the report stated that the cheetah was spotted in the forests of Chandelipura on Tuesday night. Subsequently, she reached the Sarmathura area on Wednesday. During this time, forest personnel also shot a video of the female cheetah hiding in the bushes. According to recent information, Nirva was active in the forests of Darura on Thursday. Forest department teams are continuously monitoring her activities to ensure timely and appropriate action in any emergency situation.
During this sequence of events, a distressing incident has also come to light. A forest guard from the Kuno team monitoring the cheetah has filed a complaint of looting and assault against five to six unidentified persons. Forest guard Alok Prajapati alleged in his complaint that while he was carrying out surveillance duties, some people scuffled with him and snatched the keys to his vehicle.
Prior to this incident, Ajay Dubey, an RTI activist from Bhopal, made a serious allegation. According to Dubey, a buffalo calf was preyed upon by the cheetah on the Rajasthan border, after which local villagers allegedly took the Kuno tracking team hostage and assaulted them. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding the predation of the calf or the hostage-taking of the tracking team.
Not only Nirva, but the movements of other cheetahs are also being recorded. According to reports, another cheetah is said to have been spotted around the border of Guna in Madhya Pradesh and Baran district in Rajasthan. Additionally, one more cheetah is present in the forests of Gwalior. Various teams of the forest department are keeping a strict eye on the movements of cheetahs in these different areas to ensure the safety of both wildlife and the human population.
