Rajasthan receives national award for outstanding performance in renewable energy sector

The state of Rajasthan has received a national-level award for its best performance in the renewable energy sector. This honour was conferred under the 'Renewable Energy State Assessment Framework' (RE-SAF) developed by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The award was presented by Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan during a programme held in New Delhi.

Rajasthan's Minister of State for Energy, Hiralal Nagar, accepted the award. On this occasion, he stated that Rajasthan has emerged as the country's largest green energy hub over the last few years. Providing information about the state's achievements, he mentioned that the total installed capacity of renewable energy in the state is currently 51.6 GW, of which the solar energy capacity is approximately 45 GW.

Minister Hiralal Nagar further added that Rajasthan is playing a very important role in achieving the national target of attaining 500 GW of installed power capacity based on non-fossil fuels by the year 2030. He stated that the state received the highest honour under RE-SAF due to the new milestones achieved in the renewable energy sector. This framework was prepared by the Union Ministry in collaboration with the Power Finance Corporation.

According to a report by The Hindu, several important criteria were used to evaluate states under RE-SAF. This assessment included key issues such as the development of renewable energy, policy and regulatory framework, grid readiness, performance of power discoms, and a conducive environment for investment.

Rohit Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation, was also present during the award ceremony.
