With the Diwali festivals approaching, a massive rush of passengers heading to their hometowns has been observed at Ahmedabad's Gita Mandir ST bus station. According to a report by Sandesh, a large number of people had gathered at the depot since early morning, leading to an atmosphere of intense chaos in the entire area.
As soon as the festival holidays commenced, families, traders, and working youth reached the station to travel to their native places. There was heavy scuffling and pushing and shoving among passengers to board the buses arriving on the platforms. Thousands of people stood in long queues with their luggage, waiting for buses.
To cope with the increased number of passengers, the ST Corporation has arranged for additional buses; however, the number of passengers remains significantly high on several routes. Anxiety was observed among passengers due to the lack of seats even after long waiting periods.
Keeping this situation in view, passengers and leaders have demanded from the administration that maximum additional ST buses be allocated for the convenience of citizens, so that passengers do not have to face any kind of hardship.
