The first bilateral Tri-Service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise, ‘Rahat Mitra’, was launched by India and Myanmar on 05 November 2026 in Chennai. The exercise will continue from 05 to 06 November 2026.
According to PIB, the exercise is based on the theme ‘Together for Humanity, Stronger through Partnership’. Its primary objective is to strengthen bilateral cooperation, enhance mutual trust, and improve coordination between the defence forces of the two countries.
Organised under the leadership of the Indian Navy, more than 300 personnel from the three services of both nations have participated in this exercise. Through this platform, the defence forces of both countries will engage in professional exchange, share experiences, and increase interoperability in HADR operations.
This exercise reflects India's ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and the strategic vision of MAHASAGAR. It is a significant step towards further strengthening the long-standing bilateral relations and defence cooperation between India and Myanmar. Simultaneously, this exercise will reinforce the resolve of both nations to provide humanitarian assistance during crises and maintain regional peace and stability.
