According to a report by The Hindu, police have successfully arrested two individuals within just three hours of committing a murder and robbery incident in Choutuppal, Telangana. By tracking the Tata Safari car stolen from the victim's house, police units on National Highway 44 were alerted, resulting in their apprehension from the Ganjal toll plaza in Nirmal district.
The accused arrested in this case have been identified as 21-year-old Pawan Kumar, a resident of Singrauli in Madhya Pradesh, and 24-year-old Harsh Santosh Pandey, a native of Mirzapur district in Uttar Pradesh but currently residing in Satna, Madhya Pradesh. The property seized by the police includes gold and silver jewelry, ₹9,03,300 in cash, mobile phones, a knife and the stolen Tata Safari car. The total estimated value of all this seized property amounts to approximately ₹1,73,63,300.
Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district Superintendent of Police (SP) Akshans Yadav stated that the deceased, Rallabandi Sudhakara Swamy, made a living by performing religious rituals and pujas, during which devotees gifted him cash and gold jewelry. His 29-year-old nephew, Gurram Suresh, stated that Swamy had brought him up and taken care of him.
According to the report, on October 31, Suresh and his wife went to Swamy's house and conversed with him until around 9.30 pm at night. At approximately 11 pm at night, Suresh called his uncle to ask whether they had gone to sleep or not. At that time, Swamy stated that Pawan and his friend Harsh had arrived and that he would go to sleep after talking with them.
On November 1 at approximately 12.38 am at night, Suresh received two WhatsApp voice messages from his uncle's mobile phone. When he checked the house's CCTV cameras, he came to know that they were not working. Thereafter, he went home and saw the main doors as well as the mesh door of the upper floor open. The Tata Safari car parked outside was also missing.
Suresh called number 112 at approximately 1.36 am at night. Choutuppal police reached the house and saw that the household goods were scattered inside. Swamy was found dead on the bed in the first-floor bedroom, and his hands and legs were tied with sarees. There were stab wound marks near his right elbow and on his back. The SP stated that in the five-second voice notes, Suresh was warned not to inform about this murder.
Following this, the police began analyzing the vehicle's registration number and technical evidence and tracked the Tata Safari moving towards the Nagpur highway. Toll plazas on NH-44 were alerted and the vehicle's details were shared with police units along the route.
Due to this alert, the Nirmal district police intercepted the vehicle at the Ganjal toll plaza at approximately 4.05 am in the morning. Both accused were arrested and the stolen property and vehicle were recovered.
According to the report, police have seized gold jewelry weighing 1 kg 319.33 grams, valued at approximately ₹1.30 crore. Apart from this, silver items weighing 3 kg 600.66 grams have also been seized, valued at approximately ₹3.60 lakh. The value of the stolen Tata Safari was about ₹30 lakh.
