A cab driver in Bengaluru allegedly murdered his wife and 6 relatives from her side of the family, dumping their bodies at various locations across Karnataka. The deceased include the accused's wife Sunita, mother-in-law Rupavati, brothers-in-law Shankar and Shivakumar, their wives Nalini and Divya, and the 7-year-old son of Shivakumar and Divya. Shankar and Nalini were the parents of an 11-year-old boy who has been rescued by the police.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner Simant Kumar Singh stated that the accused, named Indusekar alias Sekar, who also runs a Kannada-English monthly tabloid, has confessed to the crime during interrogation. The accused claimed that he committed these murders over a period of 15 to 20 days, which the police are currently verifying. He stated that he called the victims one by one, killed them, and disposed of the bodies.
Police have recovered the body of the 7-year-old child near Nandi Hills, while the search for the other 6 bodies continues. The rescued 11-year-old boy told the media that his uncle had taken him to Kempegowda International Airport, Kukke Subramanya Temple in Dakshina Kannada district, Dharmasthala, and Sringeri. When he asked about his parents, the uncle changed the subject and said they were on a trip. The boy further mentioned that the uncle would throw large plastic bags out of the car, claiming it was garbage when questioned.
According to the boy, his family had gone to Indusekar's house for dinner on October 31 and stayed there at the accused's insistence. The next morning, his father was missing. When his mother went out to search for him, the boy wanted to follow, but the accused's daughter pulled him inside and closed the door. He heard loud arguments between his uncle and mother, but does not know what happened next. According to the police, Indusekar then kept the boy with him and told him that his aunt had gone on an all-India trip.
Investigating officers stated that Indusekar first killed Sunita with a grinding stone and dumped the body near Nandi Hills in Chikkaballapur district. He switched off Sunita's phone and told neighbours she had gone on a trip. The following day, he invited both brothers-in-law and their families home for a party and killed the two men, followed by Divya, Nalini, Rupavati, and Puneet. Police have seized the grinding stone and the car. The accused used chemicals to clean bloodstains from his house in Rajaraj Nagar.
Police suspect that Indusekar kept the boy with him so he could use the relatives' phones and messages to show that the family was travelling. He kept the phones of the deceased and sent messages on their behalf stating they were on an all-India trip. Police believe he was planning to kill the boy as well after returning to Bengaluru.
The entire matter came to light after Nalini's mother filed a missing person's complaint at the Shriramapura police station on November 3. When investigators tracked the family's phones, their locations matched those of Indusekar. When he returned to Bengaluru at Halasuru, police stopped his car. A foul smell was emanating from inside the car, and all the phones of the deceased were found together in a hand cover.
Commissioner Singh stated that police are also questioning Indusekar's minor daughter, as there is a possibility she may have assisted him. According to the police, Indusekar was upset because his wife frequently visited her mother's house. On the other hand, Home Minister Priyank Kharge stated that the motive for the murder has not yet been established and cautioned against reaching conclusions regarding the accused's mental health or property disputes. This entire incident has come to light according to a report by Hindustan Times.
