Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann sends honorarium to 37.43 lakh women in Abohar

According to NDTV reports, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, while addressing a massive public gathering in Abohar, stated that an honorarium of ₹1,291 crore has been directly transferred to the bank accounts of over 37.43 lakh mothers and sisters of the state. The main objective of this scheme is to bring one crore women under its ambit, and nearly 80 lakh registrations have been completed so far. Economic self-reliance and joy were witnessed among the women of Punjab due to this step as SMS alerts of the amount being deposited directly into their accounts flashed on their mobile phones.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann termed this scheme a social revolution that will strengthen the financial independence and self-respect of women. He announced that all registered beneficiaries will receive money together as a New Year gift on January 1. He reiterated that his government is returning public money through schools, hospitals, roads, canals, and health insurance coverage of ₹10 lakh. In a statement shared on social media, the Chief Minister stated that this scheme will economically empower daughters and sisters.

Also in his address, the Chief Minister stated that the Chief Minister Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana is not merely financial assistance, but a tool to strengthen the self-confidence, self-respect, and dignity of mothers and daughters. This initiative will provide women with financial independence so they can make their own decisions and live a life of dignity. Taking a jibe at opposition parties on this occasion, he said that the women of the families of political rivals from the Akali Dal (Badal) and Congress are also receiving the benefits of this scheme, yet their leaders are criticizing it merely to please their political masters.

The Chief Minister clarified that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is committed to serving every eligible woman without any political discrimination because public welfare is above partisan politics. He stated that the money distributed under the scheme belongs to the common people who contribute to the state treasury through their taxes. The state government is returning people's money through welfare initiatives and development programs. When ordinary citizens pay taxes, they have every right to receive quality facilities, social security, and a good quality of life in return.

Giving further information, he stated that the government had earlier distributed ₹2,643.71 crore to 76.35 lakh women under this scheme. With today's transfer, the total financial assistance distributed has reached ₹3,934.80 crore. Appreciating the contribution of women working to simplify the registration process of this scheme, the Chief Minister stated that a total of 1,37,723 Satkar Sakhis have been engaged in this work. These Satkar Sakhis will be given incentives of ₹51.30 crore for their contribution, while Anganwadi workers engaged in the registration process will also get incentives of ₹25 crore.

The government is ensuring that those working at the grassroots level get due respect and rewards for their efforts. He promised that the next installment will bring smiles to the faces of women on December 1, followed by another transfer on January 1 when three months of assistance will be credited to the accounts of eligible beneficiaries. On this occasion, he launched a scathing attack on the Shiromani Akali Dal, Congress, and BJP. He said that these parties have nothing constructive to offer to the people of Punjab and they have united solely for the hunger of political power.

Attacking the Akali Dal, he stated that the party which failed to give answers to the painful incidents of sacrilege is now restricted to just the Badal family and a handful of close associates. On the other hand, Congress is a divided house where its own leaders are constantly fighting with each other. These political parties have formed alliances with each other and their sole agenda is to capture power and protect their own interests. Abohar has suffered due to years of family-centric politics which halted its development and deprived people of progress.

The people of Punjab have made up their minds to give the Aam Aadmi Party a second chance to serve the state in 2027. He said that the AAP government will continue making relentless efforts for the progress of Punjab, women's empowerment, welfare of every household, and building a prosperous future for coming generations. Our government is working for the people and has provided free electricity to homes, given jobs to over 70,000 youth without corruption, improved roads, closed toll plazas saving ₹70 lakh daily, provided quality education and health services as well as built infrastructure.

Grants are being given for the development of villages, and 3,100 sports stadiums are being built in the state to keep the youth away from drug addiction. Emphasizing the importance of education, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that the state government has prioritized education and taken brilliant initiatives in this sector to change people's lives. No freebies or concession cards can remove poverty or other social ills in the state. Education is the key that can elevate people's standards of living and pull them out of this menace. To empower common people, the government is making relentless efforts to improve the standard of education.
