As the construction work of the Warangal Multi-Super Speciality Hospital is getting delayed, District Collector Chahat Bajpai on Sunday mounted pressure on officials and the construction agency to complete the pending works rapidly. The Collector has taken this strict step as the deadlines set for the hospital's construction have been missed.
The Collector inspected the ongoing works outside the hospital building on Sunday. During this, she reviewed the progress of work with officials from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department, Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC), and the construction agency. She sought details of the project's various components, the works completed so far, and the works that are still pending. The Collector instructed officials to speed up the remaining works and ensure regular monitoring of its progress to ensure timely completion.
紆he State government is making efforts to operationalise this 24-storey hospital, which has an estimated cost of ₹1,371 crore. This facility is expected to strengthen tertiary healthcare services in north Telangana and reduce the burden on the currently operational Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Hospital in Warangal.
According to a report by The Hindu, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had expressed dissatisfaction on September 21 over the delay in work despite funds being released through the green channel mechanism. The Chief Minister had instructed officials to carry out construction round-the-clock, prepare an action plan with deadlines, and assign specific responsibilities to officials for inspecting various parts of the project.
Earlier, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy had announced that outpatient services would commence from October 20, which was planned ahead of the proposed formal inauguration after December 15. However, the proposed launching was postponed as authorities decided to conduct a trial run after completing the necessary preparations.
Once the hospital becomes operational, it is expected to provide services to patients from the erstwhile Warangal district and other parts of north Telangana, besides neighbouring States Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. During the inspection, R&B Superintending Engineer Suresh Babu, GWMC Superintending Engineer Raj Kumar, R&B Executive Engineer Devika Chauhan, and representatives of the construction agency were present with the Collector.
