Haji Shakil Saifi receives extortion threat of ₹20 crore in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi gang

An atmosphere of concern regarding security is currently witnessed in the entertainment world of Gujarat and Mumbai. Recently, Haji Shakil Saifi has received a phone call from an unknown person demanding an extortion of ₹20 crore. According to a report by NDTV India, the caller identified himself as a member of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Taking this serious matter into consideration, the police have immediately initiated action. The police have registered a case under section 308(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and initiated an investigation. The responsibility of investigating this case has been assigned to Sub-Inspector Neeraj. The police are currently thoroughly examining the phone calls, voice notes, and other available evidence to reach the accused.

Amidst these developments, cases of other Bollywood artists receiving threats have also come to light. According to a report by Amar Ujala, actor Ayushmann Khurrana has also received a threatening audio clip in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, in which a demand of crores of rupees has been made. Additionally, actor Tusshar Kapoor also received a call from a person named Harry Boxer, who identified himself as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and demanded an extortion of ₹5 crore. Cases of such threats have increased in Mumbai following the recent incident of firing at actor Tiger Shroff's car. During the investigation of the attack on Tiger Shroff, the police found that the accused had also conducted recensoring of other veteran actors like Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Amitabh Bachchan. So far, 13 people have been arrested in this matter and strict sections like MCOCA have also been added.

On the other hand, an alert has also been issued regarding the security arrangement in Gujarat. According to NDTV's report, security agencies have become alert after Ahmedabad's Sabarmati Central Jail received a threatening email to blow it up with a bomb. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi is currently kept in this jail, who was recently shifted to a more secure and heavily guarded block of the jail. Following the receipt of the threat, intensive searches were conducted in the jail premises by the police, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), and dog squad. The cybercrime team is investigating based on the IP address and technical details of the email.

Furthermore, the police are also keeping an eye on other criminal activities in the state. According to Sandesh's report, Surat's Rander police have nabbed a habitual thief, solving 8 crimes through him. This accused used to recce locked houses during the day and steal by breaking locks. Stolen goods have been recovered from him. This accused has a long criminal history and 13 serious crimes were earlier registered against him. In another incident, a case of a fake police officer extorting ₹10,000 from a couple by threatening to viralize their photos has also been reported by the Times of India.

Lawrence Bishnoi is a notorious gangster, against whom several serious crimes are registered across the country. He has been imprisoned in various jails for a long time and is accused of running organized crime. Sabarmati Central Jail is the largest jail in Gujarat, where several high-profile prisoners are kept. The security arrangement of this jail has always been a matter of priority for the state government and police, especially when high-risk prisoners like Bishnoi are kept there.
