Demand for action against Agri University Vice Chancellor over sexual harassment allegations

A woman professor has leveled allegations of sexual harassment against Aldas Janaia, the Vice Chancellor of Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU). In this matter, former minister and BRS leader Satyavati Rathod held a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, demanding strict action against the accused.

According to a report by The Hindu, Satyavati Rathod alleged that despite the woman professor submitting a seven-page complaint to the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Governor, the police have failed to register an FIR even after 10 days. She further stated that instead of taking action against the Vice Chancellor, the authorities have transferred the woman professor. Additionally, she alleged that people associated with the Vice Chancellor are threatening the professor's family and pressuring them to withdraw the complaint.

Rathod claimed that the Vice Chancellor is being protected due to his proximity to the Congress leadership. She demanded a high-level probe and stated that the BRS would support the professor until justice is served.

On the other hand, when Professor Janaia was contacted, he denied having any knowledge of the matter. He stated that since he had recently carried out transfers of teaching staff who had been stationed for a long time, some disgruntled faculty members might have adopted this route to tarnish his image.
