A shocking incident has come to light during raids conducted by the Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) at the residence of a government engineer in Bihar. When the SVU team arrived at the home of Vijay Kumar, who serves as a Superintending Engineer in the Road Construction Department, his wife initially refused to open the door. During this time, she threw a bag filled with currency notes into the backyard of the house, but the investigation team spotted it and the officials seized the bag.
This entire operation was carried out on November 4, 2026. Vijay Kumar faces serious allegations of accumulating assets disproportionate to his legal earnings. According to the preliminary investigation by the SVU, it has been revealed that Vijay Kumar possesses approximately 139.87 per cent more assets compared to his income. The estimated value of these additional assets is approximately ₹3 crore 28 lakh 70 thousand 600.
The investigating agency had received information that Vijay Kumar and his wife own several flats, plots of land, and large houses in various areas, including Danapur in Patna. Based on this information, an initial inquiry was conducted, followed by the registration of a case and the execution of raids. Different teams of the SVU conducted searches not only in Patna but also at their properties in Saharsa and Aurangabad.
Their homes located at Danapur Gola Road and Mahesh Nagar in Patna were meticulously searched. From the 'Sai Sharanam' residence in Patna, the investigation team recovered approximately ₹31 lakh 42 thousand in cash. Additionally, it was found that there are fixed deposits (FD) of approximately ₹10 lakh in various banks. During the raid, gold and silver jewellery worth approximately ₹23 lakh 23 thousand and important documents related to investments were also recovered.
Further financial investigations revealed that a total of ₹1 crore 29 lakh 46 thousand is deposited in the bank accounts of Vijay Kumar and his wife. Furthermore, information emerged that approximately ₹10 lakh in cash was initially found during the raid. The SVU team searched Vijay Kumar's office and residence in Saharsa, as well as his property located in Daudnagar, Aurangabad.
According to a report by Tak News today, the SVU had received a complaint against Vijay Kumar regarding the accumulation of assets disproportionate to his income, based on which this action was taken. Currently, the agency is conducting a deep probe into the seized cash, jewellery, bank account details, and property documents. Investigators are trying to ascertain the source of funds used to purchase such vast assets and whether this amount aligns with Vijay Kumar's declared income.
The investigating agency is collecting all evidence, and further questioning will be conducted in this matter. Officials believe that the true picture of this entire scam will become clear only after the full investigation is completed. Currently, all seized items and documents have been taken into custody and legal verification has commenced.
