₹32,000 crore investment being made every month through SIP

Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of the mutual fund sector have hailed SIP as one of the best innovations in the sector. According to a BS report, an investment of ₹32,000 crore is coming in every month through SIP.

During the BFSI Insight Summit 2026, mutual fund CEOs highlighted this matter. Present at the event were DSP Mutual Fund MD and CEO Kalpen Parekh, Edelweiss Mutual Fund MD and CEO Radhika Gupta, Nippon India Mutual Fund MD and CEO Sundeep Sikka, and ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund MD and CEO Nimesh Shah.

According to a TV9 Gujarati report, instead of merely increasing the number of funds, investors should focus on portfolio diversification. Many investors do SIP in 5 or 6 different schemes, but if the investment is being made in the same companies within those schemes, it is not true diversification. As per SEBI regulations, at least 80 per cent of the assets of large-cap funds must be invested in the top 100 companies, due to which large-cap funds of different AMCs may have similar holdings.

Experts advise that investors should also check sector concentration and investment style. If two schemes serve the same purpose, a decision should be made based on performance and risk.
