NDA in turmoil as LJP Ram Vilas threatens to contest elections alone in UP

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has issued a clear warning that if his party does not receive adequate representation in the alliance or if seat-sharing negotiations fail, his party will contest the elections independently across all 403 seats in Uttar Pradesh.

According to a report by India Today, Chirag Paswan adopted this aggressive stance during an election campaign rally. Supporting his position, he mentioned that his party is part of the alliance in the Central Government, Bihar, and Jharkhand, while he has contested elections independently in Nagaland. Based on this experience, he suggested that he is prepared to fight alone in UP if necessary.

According to political analysts, this statement by Chirag Paswan could be a tactical posturing. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has several regional allies in Uttar Pradesh, which has made the distribution of seats complex. It is believed that Paswan has resorted to this threat to secure better and more satisfactory seats from the BJP.

This internal tension within the NDA could alter the political equations of Uttar Pradesh. If LJP Ram Vilas actually contests the elections independently, it could impact the alliance's vote bank.
