According to a report by Hindustan Times, a 32-year-old railway officer was found dead in a chamber of the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) office in Agra. The deceased has been identified as Abhishek Singh Kushwaha, who was performing the important duty of Assistant Operations Manager (AOM) in the Agra Railway Division.
According to information provided by the police, his body was found on a sofa in the chamber of the Senior Divisional Operations Manager (General) around 11 PM on Sunday. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but he was declared dead there.
Following this tragic incident, Kushwaha's wife and mother have made serious allegations. According to them, he took the step of suicide due to the toxic working environment of the office and continuous mental harassment by a senior officer.
Kushwaha's wife, Aastha Rani, has lodged a complaint with the police. In her complaint, she stated that her husband was transferred from Prayagraj to Agra about 3 months ago, and since then, he had been facing harassment in the office. According to Aastha Rani's allegation, the Senior Divisional Operations Manager (Coordination) had made the work environment extremely stressful for her husband.
The complaint further details that Abhishek Singh Kushwaha was being forced to work continuously from 9 AM until 11 PM. Additionally, he was being threatened that his career would be ruined if he did not follow the given orders.
On the day of the incident, 1 November, 2026, Abhishek Singh Kushwaha told his wife that he was going to the office. Thereafter, he returned home around 4 PM to collect his diary. Aastha Rani noted that her husband appeared very distressed and distracted at that time. When she called her husband around 5 PM, he did not respond, and subsequently, she was informed of his death late at night.
In this matter, Agra Division PRO Sanjay Gautam has confirmed the incident, but has denied all allegations made by the family. Gautam clearly stated, "All these allegations are baseless." He further added that the post-mortem report is yet to arrive and since the matter is currently under police investigation, he cannot provide more details.
This incident has caused great shock among other railway employees, who have demanded strict action against the responsible person. Many railway employees gathered outside the DRM office to hold a protest. The protesters held senior officers responsible for the death of this officer. One employee stated that Kushwaha's death was caused by the toxic working environment of the DRM office and they will continue their protest until justice is served.
