An awareness program under the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ cell was organized at Saira in Nakhatrana taluka by the District Women and Child Development Officer's office, Kutch. During the session, 97 female students of the school were informed about safe touch–unsafe touch, hygiene during menstruation, and changes occurring during adolescence.
The program was attended by school principal Navinbhai Dhoriya, DHEW Gender Specialist Deeptiben Thakkar, SFL Krishnaben Bhudia, and Sakhi One Stop Centre (OSC) Para Legal Archanaben Bhagora, who provided guidance to the students.
Explaining the concept of safe touch–unsafe touch, SFL's Krishnaben Bhudia told the children to remain aware of their bodies and prioritize their own safety. Adolescent girls were urged to maintain physical hygiene during menstruation, seek correct information without hesitation, and take care of cleanliness.
A scientific understanding of the natural changes occurring in the body and mind during adolescence was provided. It was stated that proper information, nutritious diet, personal hygiene, adequate sleep, and family support are essential to remove confusion and hesitation.
At the conclusion of the program, Archanaben Bhagora provided information regarding the free services, legal, and other assistance available through the Sakhi One Stop Centre during times of difficulty or need. The office stated that the objective of the program was to foster personal safety, correct understanding of the body, menstrual hygiene, and scientific and practical awareness regarding the physical and mental changes of adolescence among children and adolescent girls.
