Gates-Tata delegation reviews Prime UAV's AI/ML model

Ahmedabad: A global delegation of 17 members from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (USA) and Tata IHF (IHF - Tata Trusts) reviewed the AI/ML-based mosquito-borne disease control model of Gujarat-based drone-tech startup Prime UAV Pvt. Ltd. during a program organized to find advanced solutions for controlling mosquitoes and vector-borne outbreaks in India.

Prime UAV, a developer of technology in the public health sector, has developed four important technologies under ‘Advance LSM through Drone Intelligence’ (Advance Larval Source Management through Drone Intelligence) via drone intelligence. AI/ML-based drones typically identify hidden mosquito breeding centers in remote and inaccessible areas and immediately provide information to the ground team.

To control malaria, filariasis, and dengue, this technology-based model has been implemented on a pilot basis and services have been provided in Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Junagadh, Anand, and Mehsana districts in collaboration with the Gujarat government administration.

Regarding this innovation and ground-level implementation, in a joint meeting held on 21 October 2026, 9 high-ranking officials from the Centre (ICMR) and the Gujarat Government, subject experts, Prime UAV, Gates Foundation, as well as representatives of Tata Trusts, held detailed discussions on the technological progress.

Pradip Patel, CEO of Prime UAV Pvt. Ltd., and CTO Hiten Patel stated that the delegation gained information regarding the technology and real-world experiences with government officials, so that this model from Gujarat can be implemented in other countries as well. The company considered this model a significant technical achievement for the control of mosquito-borne outbreaks.
