The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted a search operation at the residence of Amandeep Kaur Arora, an Aam Aadmi Party MLA and Punjab State President of the party's women's wing, in the Moga district of Punjab. According to a report by Hindustan Times, this action included the premises of Amandeep Kaur, as well as her husband Rakesh Arora, family members, and other associates.
A total of 7 locations were raided simultaneously by the ED in Punjab. This investigation is being carried out in connection with the alleged fraudulent acquisition of government and institutional properties and the misuse of public funds. The investigative agency has registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) in this matter. Officials stated that the primary objective of this search operation is to uncover the alleged corrupt activities and the money trail involving the accused named in the police FIR and the agency's ECIR.
The case originated from an FIR registered by the Punjab Police on June 16, 2024. This FIR pertained to the fraudulent mutation of government land acquired for National Highway Number 754A and the wrongful payment of compensation. Based on this FIR, the ED initiated its investigation.
During the raids, in addition to the homes of Amandeep Kaur and her husband Rakesh Arora's family members, a de-addiction hospital associated with Rakesh Arora was also searched. The ED teams were conducting this operation to collect evidence, and the agency has already gathered various materials, including digital evidence.
On the other hand, according to a report by NDTV India, these raids lasted for 36 hours, during which a total of seven locations, including two houses of Amandeep Kaur, were searched. After the raids were completed, the AAP MLA stated that the investigation team found nothing and returned empty-handed.
