According to a report from PIB Ahmedabad, the Vadodara-based regional office of the National Statistical Office (NSO), along with sub-regional offices in Valsad, Nadiad, Surat, and Mehsana, plans to conduct several surveys in Gujarat. This process is proposed to be completed by November 2026.
Under this programme, the National Household Income Survey (NHIS), Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE), Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), All India Debt and Investment Survey (AIDIS), Situation Assessment Survey (SAS), Migration Survey, Consumer Price Index (CPI), and Annual Survey of Industrial Services Sector Enterprises (ASISSE) will be conducted in both rural and urban areas.
The primary objective of these surveys is to obtain official information regarding the standard of living, employment status, sources of income, expenditure, and economic conditions of ordinary households, citizens, and unincorporated enterprises. Additionally, inflation will be measured through the Consumer Price Index in rural and urban markets. This data is utilised by the Central and State governments to formulate public welfare programmes, employment schemes, and economic policies.
The NSO has requested citizens of the concerned districts to cooperate in this task in the national interest. An appeal has been made to assist survey officers or employees by providing accurate details when they visit homes to collect information.
The National Statistical Office (NSO) was a non-revenue and non-commercial entity under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation of the Government of India. It collected and published socio-economic, agricultural, and industrial statistics and worked in coordination with state government officials.
