According to a report by The Hindu, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday, November 6, 2026, leveled serious allegations against the AAP government in Punjab, stating that it has diverted the ₹1,600 crore fund announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year for the flood-affected state.
Interacting with reporters in Chandigarh, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that he had seen a video on social media in which Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had promised compensation for every loss suffered by the people during the devastating floods, right down to the loss of a hen. Shri Saini added that CM Mann had also said that they did not need to look towards the Centre for funds.
However, when floods hit Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann did not have the money to compensate the farmers, the Haryana Chief Minister stated. The Prime Minister had given ₹1,600 crore to Punjab and ₹1,500 crore to Himachal Pradesh last year for natural disasters, Saini stated.
Shri Saini alleged that Himachal has not said that it did not receive the money, as it utilized it. The Punjab government is still claiming that it did not receive the money, whereas it has spent that fund elsewhere. Shri Saini further claimed that Punjab farmers told him that AAP ministers distributed compensation cheques in their presence and posed for photographs with the media, but took the cheques back after the media left. He questioned how the people of Punjab would vote for them given what these people do.
Targeting Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Shri Saini said that Punjab's Chief Minister has spent five years making a mockery instead of working. He also alleged that the AAP has failed to fulfill its pre-poll promise of giving ₹1,000 per month to every woman in Punjab before the 2022 assembly elections. He said that women were made to wait until the upcoming elections drew near, and now questioned who would pay the promised arrears of ₹50,000.
Shri Saini accused Congress and its 'INDIA' bloc allies of repeatedly targeting constitutional bodies, including the Election Commission, claiming it has become their habit. Speaking to reporters after transferring funds directly through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to beneficiaries under various schemes in Chandigarh, he stated that they try to mislead people, do not let Parliament function, and oppose whatever scheme the government brings.
He said that this money is directly credited to the beneficiaries' bank accounts every month and in the coming time, the public will reject the opposition parties. In Haryana, Congress had promised to give 100 square yard plots before the elections but did not fulfill that promise, he alleged. The BJP government distributed the plots after coming to power, he stated. The Narendra Modi government understands the concerns of the poor and has worked for their upliftment, Shri Saini said.
Accusing the Congress of practicing the politics of lies, he said that they have no issues, they lie to get votes, and their other 'INDIA' bloc allies also lie.
