Bareilly Police trace transactions worth ₹25 crore in online gaming fraud

The police in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, have uncovered a major cyber fraud carried out in the name of online gaming offers. According to a report by Sandesh (Desh), the police have arrested 6 accused associated with this network. During the investigation, police obtained details of 60 bank accounts, among which transactions exceeding ₹25 crore were traced in 5 main accounts.

Investigation revealed that these cyber fraudsters lured people with bonuses, attractive offers, or high returns on investment on online gaming platforms. To transfer funds, this network used cryptocurrency, specifically USDT, and complex chains of various banking transactions. The fraudsters used different bank accounts and digital mediums to hide the original source of the money obtained through fraud.

Additional SP (South) Bareilly, IPS Anshika Verma, has warned people to remain cautious in this matter. She will sensitize citizens through the 'Cyber Safe Live' programme on November 11, 2026, at 4 pm. In this programme, the modus operandi of cyber criminals, signs of fraud, and ways to avoid them will be explained.

Cyber security agencies have appealed to people to stay away from unknown links, suspicious gaming offers, and fake investment schemes claiming quick profits. It has been stated that if any person becomes a victim of such fraud, they should immediately contact the national cyber helpline number 1930 or lodge a complaint on the cybercrime.gov.in website.
