The mother of the victimized young woman has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the progress of the investigation being conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the R. G. Kar hospital rape and murder case. According to an NDTV report, raising questions on this matter, the victim's mother stated that their family had never demanded a central probe and the agency has failed to bring about any kind of progress. She further stated in clear words that if the central agency cannot do its work properly, it should step aside and leave the investigation. The parents of the victimized hospital doctor have expressed displeasure with this investigation several times before as well, and they believe that those whom they consider to be involved in this crime have not yet been brought to justice. Earlier, the Calcutta High Court had ordered the transfer of the case investigation to the CBI after taking suo motu cognizance of the matter.
Giving further details on this matter, Ratna Debnath stated that even after the change of government in West Bengal, the level of corruption in medical colleges has not decreased. Ratna Debnath is a BJP MLA and Ratna Debnath herself is the mother of the victimized young woman of R. G. Kar hospital. Speaking to reporters on Sunday, she claimed that despite a change of power in the government, there has been no improvement in the situation and the same old people are still present around, due to which no reduction in corruption has been recorded.
Along with this, Debnath, who became an MLA from the Panihati assembly constituency, also hinted that she will contact Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari to seek justice and demand strict action in cases of alleged corruption in medical colleges. She claimed that many files related to the alleged corruption going on in various medical colleges have come to her and she wants a proper investigation into all these serious allegations. Regarding all these matters, she clarified that she will present this issue before the Chief Minister.
It is noteworthy that while joining the BJP earlier, Ratna Debnath had given the reason that if there is no change of power in the state, it would prove very difficult to secure justice for her daughter. Based on this belief, she changed her party and subsequently won from the Panihati assembly constituency in the 2026 elections. However, by currently stating that the central investigative agency's work is slow and by raising her voice against corruption, she has increased the political heat across the state.
