Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan pays tribute to Sardar Patel and calls upon youth to serve the nation

India's Vice President Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan attended the 'Sardar Katha' event organized at the Vice President's Enclave on the occasion of National Unity Day and the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and paid tribute to Sardar Patel. On this occasion, he appealed to the youth of the country to draw inspiration from Sardar Patel's ideals of unity, discipline, and nation-building. He further stated that India's journey towards making India a developed nation by 2047 should be guided by greater ambition and collective resolve.

According to a PIB Delhi report, an inspiring narrative was presented by the renowned storyteller Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishnan at this special event organized at the Vice President's Enclave. She shed light on the life, his ideals, and the extraordinary contribution towards the nation of Sardar Patel, who is known as the Iron Man of India. Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Shri Taranjit Singh Sandhu and other distinguished guests were also present at this event.

Addressing the gathering, the Vice President extended greetings on National Unity Day. He said that the story of Sardar Patel is not just the story of one of India's greatest leaders, but it is the story of India's unity, courage, and nation-building. Emphasizing India's remarkable journey in the post-independence era and the march towards a developed India by 2047, he told the youth to imbibe the ideals of unity, courage, discipline, and selfless service of Sardar Patel in their lives.

Recalling Sardar Patel's historic contribution to India's political integration, the Vice President stated that at the time of independence, the country faced several challenges. Uncertainty was created due to partition and more than 550 princely states needed to be integrated into the Indian Union. Sardar Patel accomplished this historic task through his firm determination, power of persuasion, administrative ability, and political acumen, and gave the vision of a united India. He added that the nation will always remain grateful for this extraordinary contribution.

The Vice President further stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the mantra of unity propagated by Sardar Patel is being transformed into the national mission of a developed India by 2047. He observed that India's journey from 1947 to the present reflects courage, determination, and collective resolve, while the journey towards 2047 should be marked by greater ambition, aspiration, and commitment.

Emphasizing the continued relevance of Sardar Patel's ideals, the Vice President said that truth, simplicity, courage, discipline, and service to the last person are values that the nation needs to uphold. He specifically urged the youth to draw inspiration from Sardar Patel's life and channelize their immense energy, talent, and capability towards constructive nation-building activities. Concluding his address, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan appreciated Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishnan and her team for bringing the life and legacy of Sardar Patel to the audience through the eternal tradition of katha. He said, "Sardar Patel has given us a united India. To keep it united, strong, and just is our duty. India is one, and will always remain one!"

Prior to this event, the Vice President paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Sardar Patel Chowk in New Delhi and at the Vice President's Enclave. Sardar Patel's extraordinary life and legacy stand as a permanent testimony to the power of national unity, unflinching determination, and selfless service. On this sacred occasion, the nation remembers his historic contribution to nation-building and pays heartfelt tribute to this great visionary, whose legacy continues to guide India's journey of unity and progress.
