A major terror funding network has been busted by the police in Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir. According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, the police have arrested 10 members linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF). This network was working to secretly collect money from common people and deliver it to terrorists.
Investigations conducted by the police revealed that this network had connections with all terrorists and their associates lodged in various jails of the Union Territory. These accused would collect money from people and distribute it through a financial network to assist in terrorist activities. This money was used to provide smartphones and other necessary facilities to the terrorists.
An FIR has been registered at the Shopian Police Station in this case. During the investigation, several suspicious online transactions made through various payment platforms came to light, which led to the exposure of this terror funding network. The police are currently investigating the matter further and identifying other people associated with the network. According to the police, more arrests could be made in this matter in the future.
The arrested accused include residents of Shopian, among whom are Owais Shafi Naikoo of Saidpora Bala, Tajamul Ahmed Shah of Rawalpora, Moz Irbal and Imdad Yusuf Ganai of Chitragam Kalan. In addition, Firdous Thokar of Nadigund, Trenz in Shopian has also been arrested. Other accused include Saqib Zahoor Wani and Liyaqat Nazir Lone from Muran in Pulwama, Aamir Ahmed Ganai of Armoh, as well as Mohammad Hanif and Kaju of Check Haria in Kathua.
Providing information about The Resistance Front (TRF), the report states that this is a new name among the terrorist organizations in Jammu and Kashmir, which came into existence after the removal of Article 370 in 2019. The Government of India considers this organization a proxy terrorist outfit of Lashkar-e-Taiba. According to security experts, ISI handlers across the border had set up TRF with the help of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Along with killing security forces and common citizens, this terrorist organization has also been involved in the smuggling of drugs and weapons from across the border.
During this report, another incident was also mentioned, stating that the army recovered 7 suspicious IEDs and a 7.62 mm Light Machine Gun (LMG) magazine during a search operation in Poonch. Just a day before this operation, 2 terrorist associates were arrested.
