According to a report by Sandesh, strict action has been taken by the Food Safety Department of the Surat Municipal Corporation against elements playing with the health of citizens. To check the quality of food items sold in the market, a special checking drive is being carried out by Surat food department teams in various areas, as the festive season is approaching.
Under this special inspection drive and based on specific information received, the Food Safety Department team raided a shop named M/s Bharat Traders located in the Katargam area. During this inspection, when officials checked the quality of the ghee kept for sale, its quality appeared suspicious, which surprised the officials as well.
In view of this situation, approximately 62 litres of suspicious ghee stock was immediately seized by the department. To precisely verify the quality of this seized ghee, samples were taken by the food safety team and sent to the government food laboratory for testing.
Only after the laboratory report arrives, it will be clear whether this ghee is genuine or adulterated. Authorities have assured that legal and strict punitive action will be taken against the concerned firm based on the laboratory testing results.
